Mobile Application II (Digital Magazine Week1 - Week 14)

My idea was to make a magazine for people to learn how beginner filmmakers create their work. to share their experience with others.

Concept
A magazine that showcases the past work of Merdeka Boys. Which includes 2 of their music videos and 1 of their featured film. The magazine will go behind the scene on how these group manage to achieve the end product will a small budget productions. The magazine will cover all aspect of the pre-production, production and post-production. In addition to that the magazine also will have an exclusive interview with the cast and crew of Merdeka Boys and their projects.

Purpose of Magazine
To educate young filmmakers to follow their dream and to prove that with determination and a group of friends that are passionate, you are able to achieve and do whatever you want to do. Other than that, to show how low budget filming is done and the process behind making a short video to share to the world.

User Interface
Among the interactive magazine there will be image gallery where users are able to swipe between images to see some of the behind the scene (BTS) images shot on the production day. Other than that users are also able to watch the BTS video on the process of making the video. Also, there will be article written down which will be in a layer style where the users can scroll to read but at the same time the background image remains the same.
In addition to that the users are also able to control a slider bar and see how the video is before colour grading and after colour grading. There will also be synopsis of Merdeka Boys’s other video projects.
There will also be an article about the equipments used by the team as well as recommended items to purchase for a young filming maker to start off with.

an initial stage of designing the layout of the magazine was done in the first 5 weeks. after than we had to plan the interactivity within the design. From that stage is where some of the design was changed in  order to create more interactivity for the user's experience. 



After designing the look of the magazine in Ai format, I transferred all the artwork in InDesign. Theres is where most of the interactivity was going to be done. after i primary setup, i also let some of my friends and family too test on the magazine and i find that some of them missed a few articles with indicate that the navigation was not that well planed in the magazine. Therefore more touch up and redesigning needed to be done. 


 

A photoshoot and also a series of interview also was made for the content of the magazine. This way that instead of just reading it, users can experience the information in a different way as well. 




The cover page and all the videos included in the magazine was made in adobe premier pro and also after effects, converted to MP4, all the medias then were attached in InDesign. 


The hardest part of the magazine is to make the jump links. Although the codes are very simple but there was a lot of hiccups and  problems.



After that the magazine was exported in Mag+ Production Tool and downloaded in mib format.
