Experiential Design Progress (Week 1 - Week 14)

At first the idea was to create a more information based AR app but after consulting my razif, he said there is more to being a multimedia student that just creating and supplying informations with videos. Hence, my attempt on using 3D animation AR for this project.

This was the initial stage of trying vuforia, it was hard at first but after watching tutorials videos made my mr razif it all became relatively simple at the end.

So of the coding was complicated but most of them was east to understand and to apply to the AR in Unity.

Downloaded several 3D animation files as i did not take 3d animation during the short semester therefore, i have no basic skills in 3D animating.

The animation was download at the website Maximo. A website for free 3D animation in collaboration with Adobe Cinema 4D.

By having an AR app i wanted to build a platform so that users can scan instead of just on a piece of paper. I wanted to build an installation of a wwe ring.

Xcode was a new software that i venture and for sure a software that i will use again. looking at an app that you build yourself is very satisfying when its been previewed through the selected devices and not just through a laptop webcam.

Nasi Lemak Vending Machine

Today in class we have to work in a group (pair) and had to come on with a design of a Nasi Lemak vending machine (as stated in the title above). We had to thing of the user experience when buying a pack of Nasi Lemak on the go.

Idea Sketch.

As display, the vending machine starts of with a start button (touch screen) as the process begins, users can able to pick and choose several items to be in their Nasi Lemak such as kacang, telur, ikan iblis, timun and addition dishes like ayam goreng, kerang, sambal sotong and daging goreng. After choosing, users pat the amount shown on the display then can witness the magic that happens within the machine itself.

STEP 1

There will be a hand putting a container of coconut rice on to a conveyer belt with will bring the Nasi Lemak through the whole precess. secondly, all the machine will be shown behind a glass door showing all the steps from slicing the cucumber and dropping the nuts and anchovies.

STEP 2

Step two are where the side dishes are. The fried chicken and beef will be in a sliding container which opens if u had pick the ingredient at the beginning of the process. There will also be a tube dispensing either the sambal sotong of the kerang if u had picked it. Lastly there will be a machine that ejects out packed sambal and also a mechanical hand closing the container.

At the end there will be a piston that bring the Nasi Lemak down to an opening that users can slide to open and take their order.

Why AR.

To experiment with new media and to give user a new experience in learning and giving information.

Target Audience

Teenagers (Secondary School Students)

Theme

Will be using vector based HUD and giving it a hi-tech (ironman) style interphase. In order to connect with audience and keep everything futuristic. This way users can have a glimpse of how future applications are going to be.

Concept

To learn deeper in the world of the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) Universe and its Superstar. Taking WWE Action Figures and being able to scan their faces using user’s mobile phones and learn more about the individual as their information will transitions on to the devices with a short overview video of what that individual can do in the ring.

User Experience

The idea is to create a mini installation of an actual match. There will be an entrance, ramp and the ring itself build in a scale that fits the action figures. This mini exhibition will be resented in a way that it is showcased in a museum. Where users can drop by the installation and scan the Superstar’s faces to know more about the individual. Examples for what kind of information will be presented is as the following:-

Alongside those information there will also be a video played, showing how the superstar looks like in real life compared to the action figures and also showing their skills inside the ring. Users are also able to play with a slider bar that will show the superstar’s face before (when they first join the WWE) and how they look currently.
